What is an On-Grid Solar System?
An on-grid (or grid-tied) solar system uses standard solar inverters and stays connected to the public electricity grid at all times. Any excess power your panels generate is exported back to the grid, and under India's Net-Metering Policy — available in most states — you receive credits or a feed-in tariff for that exported energy.
How It Works
Solar panels convert sunlight into DC electricity. A grid-tied inverter converts this to AC power, which is used directly by your home or business. When your system generates more than you consume, the surplus flows into the grid through a bidirectional meter. When you consume more than you generate — at night, for example — you draw the difference from the grid as usual.
